Two events, one topic

Last Thursday I found myself at opposite ends of the same conversation.

I started the day at the Future Talent Summit, hosted by Summer of Tech and Creative HQ, and finished it at KiwiSaaS New Zealand's SaaSpocalypse event.

Different audiences. Different perspectives. Same topic.

AI.

Across both events there was plenty of discussion about what AI might mean for jobs, careers, startups and established businesses.

What struck me was that nobody really seems to have it figured out.

There were lots of opinions, ideas, opportunities and concerns. Some exciting, some confronting.

There are also some clever people doing genuinely interesting work. Building, experimenting, questioning and sharing what they're learning along the way.

AI is a powerful tool, and I suspect it will change how many of us work. Some roles will evolve, some will disappear, and new ones will emerge. Ten years ago, who would have thought a social media influencer would be a career path?

The challenge isn't predicting exactly what happens next. It's staying curious enough to learn alongside it.

I left thinking less about the technology and more about the people.

He tangata, he tangata, he tangata. It is the people.

The thing that gave me confidence wasn't the technology. It was the people.

Thanks to the teams at Summer of Tech, Creative HQ and KiwiSaaS for creating the space for these conversations. Great to reconnect with some familiar faces and meet a few new ones along the way.
